What is the Napa Dream Home Raffle?
Napa Dream Home Raffle is a non-profit fundraiser. The raffle aims to raise funds to support anger management, parenting, substance abuse education, counseling to adolescents, low-cost substance abuse treatment, drug intervention, and recovery support services to families within the Napa Valley. In addition to supporting Alternatives for Better Living and McAlister Institute, the raffle will be giving away prizes, one of which the grand prize is a Napa Valley dream home or $1 million in cash.
How do I purchase raffle tickets?
You can call toll-free 1-888-789-3888, Fax or Mail a check or money order.  To enter call toll-free 1-888-789-3888 or select the “How To Enter” button at the top of the page to access an entry form.  Fill out the form and:  *Fax: 1.888.934.4321, or *Mail: Destination Dream Home Raffle, PO Box 2720, Napa, CA 94558.  Please make checks/money orders payable to Alternative for Better Living.

Do you accept applications by email or sell tickets on the internet?
No. Pursuant to California statutory regulations and to section 320.5 of the Penal Code, charitable raffle tickets may not be sold or accepted on the internet.
How long will it take to receive my ticket?
Your numbered ticket receipt(s) will be emailed or mailed to you after your check or credit card is processed.  The email will take a minimum of one (1) day and mailed ticket receipt(s) will take a minimum of fourteen (14) days and will only be sent upon special request. The raffle ticket(s) with the matching number(s) will be placed in the official drum for the drawings.  All entries received before the drawing deadline(s) will be entered into the associated drawing along with all subsequent drawings whether or not stubs have been received. Please note that during the drawings we call names, not numbers. ALL SALES ARE FINAL. NO REFUNDS. Must be 18 years or older to enter.  Void where prohibited.
How long will it take to receive my receipt by email?
Receipts are delivered within 5 minutes after an order is processed to the email address provided at the time of entry.  However, email may take up to one (1) day and mailed ticket receipt(s) will take a minimum of fourteen (14) days and will only be sent upon special request. If you did not receive your email receipt, check your SPAM folder or add info@ddhraffle.com as a trusted name in your address book.

Although we work very hard to ensure email deliverability sometimes our email will end up in your “SPAM” or “JUNK MAIL” folder. If after your order you do not receive:

  1. ORDER CONFIRMATION email and/or
  2. TICKET RECEIPT email notification

within 24 hours of placing your order, please send a resend request to tickets@ddhraffle.com with your full name & order number. We’ll resend your order confirmation and ticket receipt email & send you a copy of your ticket receipt via USPS.

Is this Dream House Raffle legal?
Yes, it is. In the summer of 2001, the California Legislature amended the state constitution to allow eligible nonprofit organizations to conduct raffles as a means of raising funds. Alternatives for Better Living is registered with the California Attorney General’s Office to conduct this charitable raffle.
Will the drawing be audited?
Yes, an independent raffle auditor will audit the raffle as well as supervise the early bird drawings, the multi-ticket drawing, the micro-bonus drawing, and the grand prize drawing.
How much does a raffle ticket cost?
Tickets are $150 each, 3-packs for $400, or 5-packs for $550 for the general drawing and $10 each for the micro-bonus drawings.
(One, Three or Five pack can only have one entrant’s name on it.  All ticket orders of five or more qualify for a $40 discount per ticket.)
How many raffle tickets can I buy?
You may buy as many tickets as you like.
How many prizes are awarded?
Over 350 prizes are awarded including the grand prize dream home, vehicles, vacations, and more.
How many tickets will be sold?
No more than a total of 60,000 will be sold during the raffle.
What is the MICRO BONUS DRAWING?
Entry Deadline: January 20th, 2018 @ Midnight

Drawing Date: March 17th, 2018

Location: Drawing will be conducted by a representative of Alternatives for Better Living. All drawings will be held under the supervision of an independent raffle auditor.  Winners will be notified by email and sent a prize award notification with instructions on how to claim their prize in the mail.  Entrants need not be present to win.

1st Prize: 2018 Range Rover

Any individual who has purchased at least one ticket for the General Grand Prize Drawing will be qualified to enter our Micro-Bonus Drawings by purchasing a separate ticket(s) into the Micro-Bonus Drawings. The Micro-Bonus Drawing tickets may be purchased for $10 per ticket. No minimum ticket amount required to qualify, no maximum number of tickets have been placed for the Micro-Bonus Drawings. The Micro-Bonus Drawings will be a separate ticket entry from the Grand Prize Drawing and multiple Micro-Bonus Drawing tickets purchased will qualify only for their respective Micro-Bonus Drawing Categories and do not qualify for the General Multi-Ticket Drawings to the following; to be eligible entrants must purchase tickets specifically for the Micro-Bonus Drawing(s), with one or more tickets during the same purchase, using one method of payment, using the same name on each ticket, and the same mailing address for each eligible ticket. For each eligible ticket purchased, a corresponding eligible ticket will be added into the Micro-Bonus Drawing.

 

What are the Early Bird Drawings?
There are two Early Bird Drawings. This is meant to encourage people to purchase tickets sooner rather than later. If you purchase a ticket before an early bird deadline you are included in the early bird drawing, the subsequent early bird drawing and included in the grand prize drawing. All tickets entered into the early bird drawings, as well as early bird drawing winners are included in the grand prize drawing.
Can you tell me more about Early Bird Drawing 1?
In addition to being entered into the Grand Prize Drawing, there are two opportunities to win additional prizes in the early bird drawings for people who purchase raffle tickets before the early bird drawing deadlines.

All tickets entered into the Early Bird Drawings are re-entered into subsequent Early Bird Drawings, if applicable, as well as the Grand Prize Drawing.  So the earlier you enter the more chances you have to win!!

Four tickets purchased will have four tickets entered into the Multi-Ticket Drawing, etc. Multiple tickets purchased at the same time are eligible for discounts. 3-packs are available for $400 and 5-packs are available for $550.

Who We Are

Over 15 years ago a Napa psychotherapist and a Napa addictions counselor joined to provide a kinder more respectful approach to treatment. They wanted to make services more available and accessible, particularly to people with the greatest need and the fewest resources. One of our mottos is… “Treating people with respect.” Our clients often succeed in part because here they are treated as worthwhile human beings who are struggling with life. Alternatives provides anger management, parenting and substance abuse education and counseling in Napa California. They work with adults and adolescents. Alternatives for Better Living is a private, non-profit, 501(c)(3) social service agency.

Since opening our doors in 1977, McAlister Institute has grown into one of San Diego and Napa County’s largest alcohol and other drug treatment providers. Our proven and innovative programs are built on 40 years of experience helping people become drug-free, independent, and healthy, and they serve more than 9,000 individuals each year. Together, McAlister Institute’s 25 programs represent a continuum of care which spans prevention, outreach, intervention, deferred entry programs, outpatient treatment, short-term residential, long-term residential, and sober living.

With the proceeds from the raffle Alternatives for Better Living will be able to reinstate programs that were ended due to loss of funding. Programs like no-cost anger management classes in high schools and middle schools, no cost parenting programs for people with drug and alcohol problems and anger management classes for people in residential programs. In addition, there are many new programs that will be provided such as parenting programs for men convicted of violence in the home, managing your own emotions and classes focused on dealing with the whole person. Alternatives is dedicated to helping the Napa Valley community and its residents grow into happy healthier individuals.

With the proceeds from the raffle, McAlister Institute will be able to continue to provide professional services that heal the lives of individuals and families, improving the quality of life in communities through the miracle of recovery.

When does the raffle start and when does it end?
The raffle begins on August 19th, 2017 and the raffle ends on March 3rd, 2018 @ Midnight.  The Grand Prize Drawing will be held on March 17th, 2018
When will the prize drawings be held?
Early Access Drawing will be held on Saturday, August 26th, 2017.  The Early Bird Drawing 1 will be held on Saturday, October 14th, 2017.  The Early Bird Drawing 2 will be held on Saturday, December 9th, 2017.  The Grand Prize Drawing, Multi-Ticket Bonus Drawing, and Micro-Bonus Drawings will be held on March 17th, 2018.
Do I have to be present to win?
No.
How will the winners be notified?

Each prize will be awarded to the holder, who is the individual named on the winning ticket. Initial prize notification will be sent promptly to all prize winners (except 16-300 Electronic winners) by U.S. mail, email, or phone to the addresses & phone number shown in the Raffle database, as given by the purchaser. You may receive one or all of the for mentioned notifications per your prize award. Prizes are awarded pursuant to the raffle rules and may not be as advertised.

Who can buy a raffle ticket?
Any person 18 years of age or older. Employees and members of the Board of Directors of Alternatives for Better Living, employees of their agents, consultants, attorney, independent accountant firm, their spouses and children living in the same household are excluded from participating and are not eligible to win a prize. All federal, state, local laws and regulations apply. The raffle is void where prohibited or restricted by law. An affidavit of eligibility, provided by Alternatives for Better Living, may be required from prize winners.
Are raffle tickets tax-deductible?
No. The IRS does not allow raffle tickets to be a tax-deductible contribution.  However, if you become a raffle sponsor (>$2500.00) you can make a tax-deductible donation to the nonprofit and participate in our sponsor benefits.
Are raffle prizes considered income?
Yes. In addition, Alternatives for Better Living will withhold required federal taxes for all prizes over $5,000 in accordance with federal law and the organization will remit the balance of the cash prizes to the winner. All prize winners of prizes over $5,000 will be required to submit a W-2G in order to be awarded the prize.

How do I redeem my prize?
Prize winners will be contacted according to the contact information provided at the time of ticket purchase. In addition to a list of winners posted on the Destination Dream Home Raffle web site, a list of winners may be obtained from Alternatives for Better Living by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope to: Destination Dream Home Raffle, PO Box 2720, Napa CA 94558, within one week of the Grand Prize Drawing date.
